I have been camping for the past couple of nights. It was great fun until Mr. And Mrs. Raccoon showed up to help themselves to some Chips Ahoy cookies at 3 o'clock this morning. Mr. Skunk was waiting for me at 5am when I decided that I couldn't wait any longer and had to go to the bathroom. Here I am at 7:15 still awake snuggled in my sleeping bag while I sit in my chair waiting for everyone else to wake up. I have been going through blog withdrawal the past few days so I figured I would share my morning with all of you.

Has anyone else been camping this summer?

Check back tomorrow for a new activity to download.

Link Word Pictures

Someone requested that I post a picture of the link words activity.  Sorry it took a few days but my things were at school.  I had a chance to snag them this morning and take a few pictures.  I hope these pictures help.

Links: Alphabet

A while back I posted an activity where students use links to build words.  You can get link from Lakeshore if you don't have them.  Click here to see that activity.

Here is another activity to use with the links.  The students link together the uppercase letters to the appropriate lowercase letters.  That means you will need to punch a hole on the right side of the uppercase letters and a hole on the left side of the lowercase letters.  You could also have the students put the uppercase letters in order and then the lowercase letters.

In late April I made a post about a building words activity.  Here is another building words activity that focuses on color words.  If you need to refresh your memory about how the activity words please go here.

**If you don't want to purchase the letters I suggest you use with this activity you can use letters stamps or have the students cut out letters from magazine.**

Last Day....

It is my last day with my Kinder friends and I can't seem to sleep.   It is 3:30am and I am WIDE awake!  I guess I shouldn't complain because I am not working this summer and can catch up on as much sleep as I want.  Although I am not working I am taking a few classes this summer.  In fact one class I am taking starts this coming Monday.  It is a reading materials class worth 3 credits.  It runs all next week.  Hopefully the class will give me some great ideas I  can pass on.

Color Word Work

This is my last full day of teaching before summer.  We have a half day tomorrow, which will probably feel like a full day.

This is very similar to the sight word journal I posted a few days ago except all of the words are color words.  It is great for reinforcing or as a review.

Kindergarten Rocks!

Here is a catchy little tune I wish I had found earlier in the school year.  My students are so proud of themselves because they can spell Kindergarten thanks to this music video.

Sight Word Bingo

Here is a simple sight word bingo I made for my class.  I use teddy bear counters as markers.  Usually I require the students to get 4 words in a row horizontally or vertically.  When they get good at playing I mix it up and play four corners of diagonal.

Word Sorts For Use With Pocket Charts

These are some word sorts I made for my pocket chart center.  Students choose a set of words, determine how they can be sorted and then sort.   You could have them copy the word on a piece of paper once they are sorted if you desire.

As usual I have made this in color in case a few end up on the ground so that it is easy to determine which set the word(s) came from.

Sort Key:
Black words: word endings (ing, s, ed)
Green words: word family (at, an)
Purple words: vowel (a, e, i, o, u)
Blue words: initial sound/letter (b, p, c)
